Long story short, seed oils have a high omega 6 content.

Yes Omega 6 is necessary, however, when it naturally occurs in food it is balanced with its’ proper Omega 3 ratio as a counterbalance.

By themselves, Omega 3 is ANTI-inflammatory and Omega 6 is Inflammatory…

4 weeks out from Provs and when I look back at my previous comps, my head is in a very different place right now.

Still loving it, still enjoying it, but the intensity has changed as my focus in life changes.

Not every season blooms the same emotions, goals, and desires year after year.

& one thing I learned this past weekend at provincials is : that is totally okay.

Because if life and goals and focuses are stagnant… how do you get to exit the loop of repetition and begin a new loop of exploration?

You might build something greater than what your current mindset has the capacity for.

@steviec_at has been working on me once a week for three weeks now, and my plan is to continue booking with Steve every week until Provincials because what he has accomplished in these three weeks has skyrocketed my training , and broke through my rehab plateau.

My neck, shoulder, bicep, and hamstring are thanking him even though it looks painful😂 … (it’s been worth it💯)

Bench : struggling with 135lbs —> hitting 150lbs for a double

Deadlift : feeling a hamstring pull on every wedge —> forgetting there was ever pain while pulling 325lbs

✨Give a bilateral, power athlete some unilateral, time-under-tension… and you’ll quickly find a sore, humbled athlete 😂✨

This has probably been the best part of my rehab.

Rehab doesn’t have to be “4 sets of 8 eccentric hamstring curls” all the time.

It can be movements that aren’t part of your daily life, that don’t hurt you, yet strengthen you.

I went into Pilates wanting to strengthen my core (bc I honestly dislike doing core at the gym😅) but it gave me so much more than that.

& now I look forward to my Monday classes with @hagarstrengthpilates 🤍 as it’s strengthening the movements I don’t have when powerlifting (rotational, unilateral, isometric), all while powerlifting 3x a week.

(BONUS: She also used to powerlift and her classes are gym based 😍)

💯 recommend doing activities outside of powerlifting, while powerlifting.

My life is so much more fun bc I brought it back to REAL☀️🤍

• SAUNA •

This has been one of my non-negotiables at least twice a week post training session.

The Sauna helps to:
* improve circulation
* Support muscle recovery
* Reduce tension and soreness
* Improve sleep quality
* & Promote sweating - which helps to detox the body

Your skin is the body’s largest organ, and sweating helps to detox the body from what it otherwise can’t excrete.

Between airborn toxins, digested toxins, topical creams, & clothing material, your ability to sweat also determines your ability to recover from the inside out after absorbing the previously mentioned chemicals in our everyday lives.

That’s also why what you wear in the sauna is important. I wear 95-100% cotton, so there are no PFAS, toxic dyes, or hormone disrupting chemicals being heated and absorbed, like there is when wearing polyester, neoprene, spandex, nylon, etc in the heat.

After making these changes (among others), the way my body handles and recovers from injuries has not only been better, but accelerated.

Needless to say.. imbalances need to be fixed 😂

This is only ONE example of how functional imbalances don’t necessarily cause pain, but cause limits.

Don’t get me wrong, my back is strong.
It’s saved me from becoming injured.
It can also become stronger.

& then maybe my squat to deadlift ratio would also increase 😂

In the past 3.5 weeks I maybe had 3 mediocre workouts.

Between Powerlifting and Hyrox, I competed back to back…to back over the course of 4 weeks, and both my brain and my body needed a break.

A break from counting, scheduling, & pushing through.

I moved out of my gym, travelled to New York, went for walks in the sun, and you know what those 3.5 weeks gave me?

A chance for my nervous system to recover

A chance for my knee to recover

A chance for my thumb to recover

A chance to explore myself outside of the athlete

A chance to really listen to what my body needed and was asking for, whether that was more sleep, more or less of a certain macro, stress control, or just different movements (Pilates is actually hard 😅)

Did I feel a bit guilty? A little, but today was my first real workout back since May 14th and DAMN did it feel good to be back 🔥

Squatting over 2 plates, benching over 100lbs, and BW sitting at ~78kg, just like it does when I AM tracking.

A break isn’t a fall out of character or lack of discipline… after 6 years of lifting 4x a week, it made me super grateful to be able to get right back into it 🤍

Do you know why anti-oxidants are so good for you?

They help eliminate free radicals from the body.

Free radicals are unstable molecules in the body (bc they have a free floating, chaotic electron) that cause oxidation and inflammation in the body when there is excessive build up.

Grounding allows the body to grab as many free electrons as possible to neutralize the free radicals in your body, therefore DECREASING cell oxidation AND inflammation.

Through all my injuries the past 3 years, I can’t count how many times I was in pain during my workout, sat on the grass and grounded for 10-20 mins post workout, and then stood up with 80% less pain.

EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

The earth is the BIGGEST anti-oxidant and all you have to do is step on it, barefoot.

Take advantage of it ✨

Saying no is an option… it’s just not one of mine.

On Thursday I compete in my 2nd HYROX! Maybe the thumb injury will extend my time a little, maybe it makes some stations a little more difficult, but that’s just another challenge to build through 💪🏽

I am STILL EXCITED, and God is STILL making anything and everything possible ✨

These aren’t sad tears. It’s overwhelm and love- in the most amazing way.

I made the decision to leave and start some new ventures, posted it to share with all of you, and questioned if this was really the right decision.
All day Friday, I saw angel numbers reassuring me I’m going in the right direction.

111 - trust ur intuition
222- alignment
333 - surrounded by love
444 - protection
555 - changes

Building numbers, phone numbers on trucks, license plates, addresses..

The cherry on top was the license plate that said “Glory Be”

Just in one day, I saw these 5 sequences about 4x each and the overwhelm was… well.. overwhelming 😅

I know God is pushing me in the right direction bc I see it everywhere, you’ll see it too when you open your heart to it.

For the past year, I have removed seed oils from my diet - and the affect it’s had on my body, my understanding of the digestive system, and how it affects the body, has literally made a 180.

So no, we don’t just go out to eat, we go out and explore HOW you can make your meals seed oil free (almost) everywhere!! And then we eat haha
